FO Report: One Skein Wonder

FO Report:  The OSW, or One Skein Wonder
Designer:
Stefanie Japel
Pattern Source: Pattern available right here  (and note the errata here)
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden, #87, about one and a half balls used
Needle Size:
US 9, 6
Gauge:
 16 sts = 4"
Date Completed: June 2005
Recipient:
me (of course you know this by now)

Wow! This was one of those knits that, despite how easy and fast it knits up, I'm going to love and wear over and over and over.  (I went to an incredibly fun knitting get-together last Thursday, in which I was inspired by Cathi's own version-- Thanks for making one first so I could see how cute this really is, Cathi!  More on last Thursday's get-together shortly...)  Fortunately for my knitting pals, I'll finally have something to wear besides my Charlotte-Turned-Poncho which we're all quite frankly slightly tired of seeing.

Some technical notes:  I had a hard time measuring myself, and couldn't decide if it would be better to do the 16" or the 17", so I made the 16".  At first, the fit seemed perfect.  After a little wash and wear the Silk Garden has stretched a little, so it's ended up being a little loose.  I probably could have made the smaller size. Also, don't miss the errata if you're going to make one. (I, however, did miss it.)  In any case, it still fits great and I've already received many compliments on it!  I looooove these colors of Silk Garden, and this little shrug is going to go with practically every summer shirt in my wardrobe.  Because I made the Big Sweetie sit through it, I'll make you sit through it as well ... Here's me modeling the shrug with just a few of my shirts ... (the point here being that this little thing is very versatile!):

(Sorry for the dark shots ... we've had dark, rainy weather here and obviously my natural sunlight was lacking.  If I feel like updating these, I just might ...)

So, what are you waiting for?  Go get yourself the pattern, and make yourself one of these puppies!

(And more progress on other WIPs to be blogged about shortly ...)

Very cute. I have some Silk Garden left over from Klaralund but I think I've already spent too much money on knitting stuff as is. I still haven't even atempted knitting Orangina that I purchased from Glampyre (need to focus on one project at a time.)

What I really like about your version is the striping of the Noro, and how it's continuous throughout the back and the sleeves. Great choice, and great job!!

It looks great, Jen! I'm thinking of making something like that to add some pizazz to my 12-year-old daughter's wardrobe.
